Letter to Sophie

Dear Sophie,
Thank you so much for being such an organized and responsible girl.  I love how much you enjoy cleaning and helping me get things put away.  Your imagination makes even the most boring afternoon interesting.  On Saturday you helped me pull weeds and sweep the sidewalk and then you turned the wheelbarrow into a stroller for all your stuff animals.  I am so proud of you and all of your accomplishments.  You have done excellent in school.  Your teacher is very impressed with how much your reading has improved.  You always do your homework and you have gotten a 100% almost every spelling test.  It is so fun to ride bikes together and I look forward to the day we will go on runs together.  I know your brothers are a little annoying  sometimes but they look up to you and want to be like you.  Thanks for helping me with Henry.  He wants to sit in your lap more than mine.  I am looking forward to summer so we can hang out all day!
You are my oldest and only girl and I will cherish our friendship forever.  I love you so much
Love, Mom

All in a days work...clear off bookcase and throw them down the stairs, unravel all the toilet paper, and get under mom's sink (which included makeup on his face and a new type of stickers)

Race for the Cure

We were on my works team, Gold's Gym, it was fun being apart of the 17,000 other people supporting our loved ones.

good-bye to his best friend

Quincy's pacifier has been apart of our family for four years.  He had only one Binky left at age two so we knew it was a matter of time till he lost it and that would be the end, well two years later his blue and orange Binky was still with us.  Matt and I had many discussions over the past 18 months about how, when, and why we needed to get rid of it for good.  But deep down we loved it almost as much has Quincy did.  He went to sleep with no problem, took naps, calming during a tantrum, happy in the car, quiet in church, etc... Finally, I snapped and I cut a small hole in the tip and then left for work while Matt had to put them to bed.  Matt said it was so sad when Quincy realized it was broken.  He cried himself to sleep and woke up in the morning crying.  The next day we got a little boat and sent it down the river.  Quincy asked me if somebody will send it back to him when they find it floating in the ocean.  Most likely not I told him and he cried a little more.  He didn't take a nap for the rest of the week and I was having regrets.  But we have moved on and I feel Quincy is standing a little taller and feeling pretty proud of himself.

Race #3 for Baby #3

up at 4am

in line for the bus to take us to the start

mile 9 and feeling great

mile 18, only 8 more, but only 3 more till the WALL

I passed that guy!
I had a personal best of 3:41.35, so I am really happy, but of course knowing Boston is 3:40.59 a little bummed, too.

a little dip in freezing cold mountain spring water

Eugene, Oregon

What a wonderful 39 hours! Running is not an individual sport.  This is the first time in over ten years I have had a running partner and it makes everything so much better.  Rebecca and I trained only once a week together but it was always for the long runs. The most important thing that made it all so much more fun was being together for the drive, Expo, shuttle buses, line at the bathroom, and the starting line!
The drive from Boise to Eugene is ugly and boring until you reach Bend

Yep, cross another university of our list, University of Oregon.
