Sophie's best friend in town for a visit

Our old next door neighbors came back to Maryland for a visit. Sophie and Sofia use to be constant companions. They picked up right were they left off. Her sister, Maya, is Quincy's age and Alex is their latest addition. Kendell Family, we miss you like crazy!

Another trip to DC

The long trek to the museums.

Checking out the exhibits at the National Museum of American History.

We also visited the Holocaust Museum. It didn't even cross our minds that maybe this museum is for mature audiences only, but we quickly realized that Sophie may now be scarred for life.
Questions by Sophie
Why are police killing people, I thought police and firemen are good people?
What is that stove doing in here?
Why are they carrying all those children away?
Is this really sad?

nature hike

We are enjoying living in Maryland, but we are missing the great outdoors. It was easily accessible in Cali and we frequented often. But Maryland is a little more work to find our solitude.

Matt's new hobby is looking up our 10 day forecast and comparing it to London, England. It is actually identical.

DNA is an amazing thing. How can two dark eyed parents have a child with eyes like this?

We brought our backpack, but Quincy wanted to walk and he walked the whole way! We went a little over a mile. We would have gone more but Sophie was wanting to be carried, Huh.

Christmas, a day to enjoy

Quincy got a pack of Cars sippy cups. Santa took his last bottle on Christmas Eve.

The best gift of all!

Sophie really did not have a very long list this year, but she had to have the Mariposa Barbie. And Santa delivered!

Later in the afternoon we all headed to the movies.

In our eight Christmases as a family this was only the second that we did not spend it with any relatives and we missed you all.

Preschool Christmas Program

Sophie is learning Spanish and sign language as part of her curriculum in Kindergarten Enrichment. They sang 8 Christmas songs, signed Silent Night, and sang Feliz Navidad.

They also sang and acted out The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Christmas Sunday

We had a special treat this morning, a light dusting of snow and ice, moving church to 1:00pm! We had stayed up very late the night before watching BYU get killed in their bowl game. So we all needed the extra sleep.
Tonight we held our second annual reading of the Christmas story. We had a few families (16 children under 12) over and sang a couple songs and enjoyed some treats.
I love this time of year.

Quincy: 20 months

I haven't done a post on Quincy in awhile. His favorite word for now is Elmo. He loves trucks and cars. He enjoys watching sports with daddy and climbing all over him. And he always has a hug for everyone.
