First day of School 2011-2012

Sophie's school doesn't start till 9:15 so we had time to enjoy some waffles.

She was ready and excited for Second grade to start!

Mammoth Lakes, CA

Mountain towns are always fun.  Matt has wanted to go here since before we moved away from Cali so we can now mark it off our list (we would like to come and ski in the winter).  I am glad we got this camping trip over with first and had the beach and warmer temps to look forward to.  It got down to 38 degrees at night!  And also our camp site was not for children.  It was on a big rocky hill with lots of tripping hazards.  Luckily we made it out with only minor injuries.

Carpinteria, CA

Wonderful time camping at the beach.  The campground was as close as you could get to the beach.  Some times it reminded me of a refugee camp with tents and cloth lines everywhere and the 25 cent 2 minute showers, but then again I rather be here than Kenya.

Hollywood, CA

Sophie couldn't wait to see the Hollywood sign

So happy to see and stay with my best friend and college roomie, Erin.

Matt was excited to see his old roommates, Dan and Jon.

Floating the Boise River

Living Boise is all about the river.  Everybody goes rafting and its a big pastime here.  Matt got a raft with some credit points he earned through work and we got ourselves a raft.  The Boise river run is about 6 miles and took us 2.5 hours.  A few little rapids and bumps made it exciting for the Sophie and Quincy.  We all look forward to going again soon.

2011 Track Season

Sophie ran track this year for the Team Idaho.  She practiced twice a week at Boise High School with some super amazing coaches.  8 Thursdays in a roll she had meets.  She ran the 100m and 400m and sometimes the 200m.  Quincy got to participate in the 50m dash.  We all had a good time cheering!

The 400m is one lap around the track and it is tough when you are running your hardest.

Looking forward to next year!
