The Next Stage

So happy to be free to roam

My days of watching Sophie and Quincy play and pushing Henry in the swing are over.  With every new stage in a child's development you lose one too.  I love that Henry can now walk but now I will not be reading any books at the park this spring.  This is the stage where you are behind or in front of your toddler every move they make.  Going to the park is will now be a workout for all.

 So handsome

Quincy loves to have a playmate

A movie review post

I watched this beautiful documentary a couple of nights ago and LOVED IT!  Maybe I thought it was so fascinating because I just had a child go through the first year phrase, but I think everybody would enjoy it.  I realized a few things while watching it:
1)  America is truly wonderful
2)  We are way too overprotective in this country
3)  All babies need the same things
4)  Babies love animals
5) Bayar from Mongolia is so great!  He was by far the most entertaining to watch.

Library Day

My kids LOVE going to the library.  Quincy goes through a cycle of about 50 books and we just keep rechecking them out.  Sophie likes to pretend read to her brothers but hopefully she will be confident enough soon to read the real words.  I love library day because I always have a hold waiting for me and when the kids get home they look at books all afternoon!

WALKING

A recipe post: Bran Muffins

I hate following recipes and sewing with a pattern and sticking to a marathon training plan, but I like taking other peoples ideas and mixing them up to make my own.  This is what I did for these super healthy and yummy snack muffins.
Kristen's Bran Muffins
3 cups Fiber One Bran Cereal
11/3 cups milk (for soaking the cereal)
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup applesauce
orange zest from a whole orange
and squeeze the juice into the batter too
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 tea. baking soda
1/2 tea cinnamon
1/2 tea. salt
11/2 cups whole wheat flour
Preheat oven 350 really soak the muffin tins (I used mini) with cooking spray
Let cereal soak in milk for about 20 minutes (I went and took a shower)
mix all ingredients in mixer
spoon into muffin tin
Let me know if you liked them!

FHE swim night

We finally took advantage of the family swim night at my gym.

Henry was very tired and ready to go.

STAR STUDENT: SOPHIE

Each week a student in Sophie's class is spotlighted and given the chance on Friday to bring things into class to show.  Sophie could not wait for her turn.  We all came to class and her brothers were big hits.  She displayed her scrapbook she has made and a few other art projects.  Along with a few medals for running.  She also showed a map of the United States with all the states marked off that she has traveled to (32) including Canada and Mexico.

Party Day

Quincy had a pirate/pajama party at preschool.  Sophie had a good behavior party at school and the kids voted for a dress-up party (since they couldn't wear costumes on Halloween).

Wanted a back view of Sophie and Quincy wanted give me one too.

bad fall

A simple walk to get Sophie from school ended in a blood bath.
We live in an old neighborhood and that means old sidewalks.  I was pushing the double stroller and saw a crack coming up and pushed a little harder and fast to clear the crack, instead the stroller flipped over smashing the boys and me tripping over the fallen stroller.  Quincy escaped injury but was very sad for Henry who had blood flowing from his little nose.  We made it to school and back and everybody is fine.

On the road again...

Heading to Sacramento, CA for cousin Greg's wedding.

Greg and Shalyse Jensen

catching up with friends, Sadie and Emma
Along with watching our nephew get sealed for all eternity in the Sacramento Temple we also got to visit with friends.  We stayed a night at our first Lincoln friends, Ken and Kim (no pictures).  Sophie and their daughter Ashley hit it off right away.  Last time they were together they were babies.

Christmas Morning

All over
We enjoyed a great Christmas with Grandpa visiting.  I was so proud of Sophie during the gift opening.  It got down to the last four presents and they all had Quincy's name on them instead of getting upset Sophie said, "it is good that Quincy gets a lot of presents because I got that beautiful dollhouse and everything is fair".
